The Music

He's Baaack! Carl Story, Jim & Jesse, his own All American Band, Danny Davis & The Nashville Brass and now as a featured artist with Ronnie Reno & The Reno Tradition; Mike Scott brings a depth of experience to his craft that most roots music entertainers dream about. He's been there. His many Grand Ole Opry appearances, TV, radio, special performances and extensive touring, both in the U.S. and internationally, bear that out. Regardless of whether he's headlining the show or supporting the incomparable Ronnie Reno or Danny Davis, he hits the stage with a fire burning and a love for the music and audience.

You’ve never seen Mike quite like this. Multiple CD projects released on Maple Street Music, Homestead Music and CMS Records throughout 2005, 2006 abd 2007. Three projects recorded and released with Ronnie Reno, Portfolio (RR101-1, 2002), In Concert (SP1007, 2004) and Front Porch Gospel (MP0106-2, 2006). Appearing with Ronnie on Ronnie Reno's Old Time Music Festival in over 25 million households on BlueHighways TV and RFD TV. And then, of course, there's the touring and the festivals that make it all worth while.

Mike has long been part of the tradition of American acoustic music. He’s been on stage, entertaining audiences since 1972, when he was ten. You’ve heard the name, "Mike Scott," lighting up audiences in the early eighties as part of Carl Story’s Rambling Mountaineers. Again, you’ve heard of Mike in the mid-eighties helping to define the tradition with Jim & Jesse and The Virginia Boys. In the mid-nineties, Mike’s appearances as part of Danny Davis and The Nashville Brass gave you a sense of how far bluegrass banjo has truly come. Since 1986, you’ve seen Mike, with his All-American Band, at festivals, fairs and concerts. And now, since 2001, Mike has been a featured artist with Ronnie Reno & The Reno Tradition.

In a top notch band that includes Jackie Miller on fiddle, Robin Smith on acoustic bass, John Maberry playing mandolin and, of course, Ronnie on guitar, Mike's having the time of his life. The show is steeped in the Reno legacy. It provides Mike with a platform to pull out Reno and Scruggs playing styles, as well as, the banjo strains that we've come to know over the years as Mike Scott.

The right hand has never been stronger. The timing has never been tighter. The artist has never been more tasteful. Catch a show near you. Grab the CDs and tablature. Don't miss 'em.
